I’m a software and algorithms engineer working in the field of ultrasound. I received my PhD from Stanford, where I researched ways to improve focused ultrasound-based non-invasive brain surgeries. I strive to create quality-of-life changing products, and I care about how my work can help others achieve the things they care about.
More often than I’d like, I find myself in the Dark Playground 1, not able to gather the activation energy needed to do the things I care about. Conventional wisdom is to develop good habits, because discipline is reliable where motivation is fleeting. However, forming good habits (cue-routine-reward loops 2) can be challenging; the pain points of a routine sometimes cannot be tolerated long enough to successfully form the habit. So what is there to do?
My strategy is to craft the routine - chip away at the pain points while maximizing the areas that recharge energy. It helps me with my bleach shirt art. It helps me maintain this site. What goals do you have that are currently being blocked by energy-draining routines? Let’s get you where you want to be.
